How Can You Use Foot Beds As Boot Insoles?

What Are Foot Beds?

Foot beds are very similar in structure and composition to the shoe and boot insoles. They distribute weight and pressure evenly throughout the foot. This gives the wearer a faster response and more comfort. A foot bed that perfectly supports the feet helps the wearer overcome pain in the balls of feet, fatigue in the arches of feet, slow turn responses and not able to maintain consistent pressure.

You need to buy good boot shoe inserts, when you go skiing or snowboarding. This is because the boots you use do not support your feet. This is important so that you are able to have notion of control. This will also help in more natural movement of the ankle thereby preventing pronation or supination of the foot. You can buy the inserts and trim them to fit your needs. You must take the stock foot beds of your boots. Then you must align the heels with the new foot beds. You must trace around the toe using a pen. Then trim the new foot beds to match the shape of the old foot beds. Or you can simply buy a customized insole for your boots.

Considerations To Buy Foot Beds

When you are buying boot inserts and foot beds there are some considerations. If you have an average arch in your feet, then a normal foot bed that is trimmed can be used. You can test this by standing on a sample foot bed, on a hard surface. Your feet should be placed riding width apart and then you must check how it feels, if you have difficulty in this or not able to trim for your foot size, you will need to use a customized foot bed. You will have to use foot beds if your arch collapses a lot when you place weight on it. This is the case of excessive pronation or supination of the feet, at which time you may have to use a customized foot bed.

Instep height is very different from arch height. Instep is the bony area over your midfoot. When you are using a foot bed and feel tightness in your instep, adding another insert into this will make the matters worse. The inserts that you use on your normal street shoes may not always fit your snow boots. This is because the boots are made from harder material. If you buy new boots you can easily use your old boot shoe inserts in the new one as long as they don’t smell bad.
