Yikes Stinky Insoles: How To Clean The Best Shoe Insoles?

Even your best shoe insoles become the worst if they stink. The insoles start stinking because bacteria gets trapped in the presence of moisture. So ideally you should prevent sweating. But when it comes to cleaning your insoles the common use of soap and water will not be enough. Also you must not put them into the washing machine as the rubber can get stretched.

Ingredients For Cleaning Insoles

Luckily there is a good method to clean those best dress shoe inserts. The items that you need for this are a couple of soft and clean kitchen towels, a bottle of white vinegar, 1/8 of salt, ½ cup of baking soda, twenty drops of rosemary or tea tree oil. Note that you can use any scented oils of your choice, but these work best. You will also need a pot for boiling.

How To Clean Insoles?

You have to begin cleaning by first removing the best shoe inserts from your shoes. Then you must fill a bowl with a mixture of water and vinegar. This is where you add hot water and vinegar in the ratio 1:2. You must place the insoles in the bowl and submerge them well. You have to set the bowl with the insoles aside for about three hours.

After three hours, you have to take a separate pot and fill it with four cups of water. Then you must bring the water to a boil by placing it in a stove. You have to remove the pot from stove once the water has boiled. Then you must add the salt, baking soda and the scented oil into the boiling water. Make sure that you add them after the pot is taken from the stove, or the fragrance in the oil may evaporate.

Then you must remove the insoles from the solution with vinegar and put them into the pot of boiling water. If the insoles are floating around the pot, you have to find a way to submerge them. You can do this by placing a glass as a weight. You can even use a paper weight for this purpose. You have to let the insoles soak for about an hour. After an hour you have to take the best shoe insoles from the pot and air dry them. Do not try to wash them with water as that is unnecessary.
